Livia Matthes was born and raised in Berlin, went to kindergarten in Japan, graduated from high school in the USA and has lived in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paris, Barcelona and London. Due to her linguistic talent, she is fluent in English, French and Portuguese and also speaks good Spanish. Therefore, in 2012 she obtained her first role in the Spanish feature film "Buscando a Eimish", as well as in the Dutch feature film "J.Kessels", which opened the Dutch Film Festival.
This was followed by roles in "Der Kriminalist", "Kommissarin Louise Boni", "Letzte Spur Berlin", through which she was able not only to gain some experience, but also to make a name for herself in Germany.
Her first major international role was not long in coming. In 2015, for example, Livia Matthes took on one of the leading roles in the Canadian CBC Television series "X Company," which was broadcast in numerous countries. She embodied the role of Sabine Faber for three years.
Her talent and professionalism are the base of her success. This was followed by guest appearances in the highly acclaimed and award-winning US series "Homeland" and also "Sense8". In 2016, she took on the role of Heidi in Ed Herzog's crime movie "Schweinskopf al dente," which was nominated for the Jupiter Film Award in 2017. This was followed by further roles in productions such as "Jugend ohne Gott", "Die Protokollantin", "Bad Banks" or "Wir sind die Welle". On top of that, she was 2018 "Berlinale Talent".
In 2019, she starred alongside Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Elizabeth Banks, who also directed, in the American action film "Three Angels for Charlie," among others. Most recently, she was seen in the role of "Lisa" in the Netflix thriller by Thomas Sieben "Prey".
