About
Born in Iran, Giwar Hajabi, the son of Kurdish asylum seekers, grew up in the Brüser Berg district of Bonn. He began taking piano lessons at the age of nine and it wasn‘t long before he was exposed to hip-hop culture. In 1993, Dr.Dre‘s debut album sparked his interest in rap music. As a teenager, Hajabi suffered from the poverty and marginalization he had to experience at high school. Due to the difficult circumstances, he came into contact with crime as a young adult, with the climax in 2009 when he robbed a gold transporter with three accomplices.
At the same time, the Bonn artist always stuck to his dream as a musician and began producing his own songs under the stage name XATAR at the end of the 1990s. After studying international business and music business at London‘s Metropolitan University between 2005 and 2007, he founded the label Alles oder Nix Records. He himself released his debut album, Alles oder Nix, in 2008. Even when he was in prison and on the run from 2009 to 2014, the label developed into one of the most successful German rap indie labels.
Shortly after his release from prison, he released his big comeback album Baba aller Babas in 2015, with which he reached number one in the German charts. This was the starting signal for a steep career, both as a musician and as a successful entrepreneur. This was followed by the bestselling autobiography „Alles oder Nichts“: We say the world is yours. Both Xatar itself and its artists celebrated a series of chart successes and No. 1 placements. He continued to sign artists, expanding his label structure to do so. At the end of 2018, Hajabi founded the label Groove Attack TraX together with the distributor Groove Attack, which was able to surpass the successes of AON Records. What particularly stands out here is that the artists were built up from the ground up to become successful acts. In this context, historical records were already achieved in 2018, such as the most listened to German-language single ever. Various gold and platinum awards were celebrated across labels. In the course of his career he has already worked with the largest companies in the industry, including Sony, Universal, Warner, Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon. At the beginning of 2021, the company Goldmann Entertainment was founded, with which Hajabi wants to cover the entire entertainment industry. A number of artists have already been signed to the associated music label Goldmann Music, both international and domestic. He has also celebrated some achievements in the film industry. These include various acting jobs, participation as a producer in Independent Award-winning films and work on film compositions and soundtracks. For this he worked in cooperation with film greats such as Moritz Bleibtreu or Constantin Film.
Away from the creative industry, Hajabi increasingly came into force as an entrepreneur. To do this, he worked in various areas that created synergies through the cultural influence of his own core business, music. With Haval Grill, he entered the catering industry in mid-2020 and founded his first franchise company. The products from the grill are now also sold as frozen food by large supermarket chains such as Aldi or Kaufland. He also set up a CBD brand with a market-leading position. In addition, an own ice cream brand is in the starting blocks, with the highest listing in Germany. G-Ventures was founded in early 2021 with the aim of investing in start-ups and using its own resources. Successes have already been celebrated with the companies „Gaming Stars“ and „Blume“.
Director Fatih Akin projected Hajabi‘s spectacular life onto the screen in 2022 under the title „Rheingold“. The gangster drama is based on the autobiographical novel „Alles oder Nichts and focuses on the life of the German rapper and music producer. His life course ranges from a lack of social recognition in the refugee home to a position as a major influence in current youth and hip-hop culture. This led to his products being sold successfully even on platforms taken over by DAX companies and the same companies having to rely on his company‘s advertising in order to even reach the current youth culture.
